Biodiversity-Related Assessment

Combining expertise on physical and human geography, forestry, wildlife ecology, mountain biodiversity, social-ecological sciences, and science-policy interfaces, we generate synthesis knowledge in support of innovative and sustainable solutions for nature and people.

The core mandates of the group are its contribution to the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU), the hosting of the scientific secretariat of the Permanent Senate Commission on Fundamental Issues of Biological Diversity of the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the coordination of the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA).
