I am a plant ecologist interested in biodiversity, botany, agroecology, conservation and much more. My research focuses on the effects of different drivers of global change and their interactions on ecosystem functioning and stability. My research involves both observational studies and experiments. While I previously studied the context dependency of the effects of invasive species on native plant diversity, my work currently focuses on the effects of land-use intensification and climate change on semi-natural grasslands. In recent and current projects, I investigate questions like “how do different land uses affect plant communities, and how long-lasting are such effects?”, “how do land-use driven changes in diversity and functional composition modify drought effects on grasslands?”, or “what plant traits are important for the resistance and resilience to increasingly severe drought?”. With the knowledge gained by this research, I intend to inform robust policy for the successful management of grassland biodiversity.
