Research Interests

I am currently working as a principal researcher in the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Nepal—an implementing partner for the Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA) project, entitled “Mountain Biodiversity and the Sustainable Development Goals: Knowledge for Synergistic Action”. I am also enrolled as a PhD student in University of Bern as a part of this project. My work attempts to understand the linkages between nature and human wellbeing at national and local scales in Nepal through various quantitative and qualitative methods. It also includes understanding interactions between the sustainable development goals to identify and promote nature-friendly development pathways. My research will principally be based in three rural locations in eastern Nepal.

Through this project, I hope to gain vital knowledge on the key issues involving biodiversity and development in rural mountain communities in Nepal, and recommend synergistic actions for the protection of nature and the enhancement of livelihoods of local mountain people.
