Terrestrial Paleoecology

Reconstruction of past environmental change based on biotic proxies in lake sediments

We study various aspects of the vegetation history of the Galapagos Islands during the last few thousand years, in cooperation with Oxford (School of Geography). Our specific interest is in floristic change initiated by human arrival to these islands a few hundred years ago. The study is funded by University of Bern and University of Oxford.
