At the University of Bern, Switzerland, a positions at the level of PhD Student is available to work on the functional genomics of amino acid transporters in Trypanosoma brucei.
The project aims to:
• characterize T. brucei amino acid transport systems by heterologous expression in S. cerevisiae and/or X. laevis oocytes studying their functional properties e.g. substrate selectivity, affinity, etc.;
• evaluate their role(s) for parasite growth, development and pathogenicity (and as potential drug delivery systems).
The international and interdisciplinary research environment at the University of Bern offers an excellent opportunity for career development.
